Award-Winning Craft Beer Delivered to Your Door
Another great way to support independently-run breweries during COVID-19 while gaining access to award-winning craft beer is through a delivery app called Tavour.
Tavour is a nationwide craft beer delivery service based out of Seattle, Washington – they are continuously updating a list of hard-to-find craft beers from over 650 independent breweries across the United States, all of which you can access from the comfort of your home. The app is extremely user friendly and allows you to customize your own personal beer crate based off their current rotation. Don’t have the time or not sure what to order? Tavour will automatically curate a selection of beer for you based on your own personal preferences (the link to their website can be found here).
My first delivery from them arrived a couple days ago and here’s is what is consisted of:
From left to right, the beers were as follows:
Dance Party (9.8%) – Imperial Hazy IPA from Foundation Brewing Company (one of Thrillist’s Best New Breweries in America) in Portland, Maine.
Shnickelfritz (5%) – German-style Hefeweizen (ranked among the top in the world for its style on Beer Advocate) from Urban Chestnut Brewing Company in St. Louis, Missouri.
Revolt (10%) – Limited release Triple Hazy IPA from Adroit Theory Brewing Company in Purcellville, Virginia.
Dr Lupulin (11.3%) – Massive Triple IPA (2019 U.S. Open Beer Championship Gold Medal Winner) from Revision Brewing Company in Sparks, Nevada.
Hot Wax (8.5%) – Imperial Hazy IPA from highly-underrated Dewey Beer Company in Dewey Beach, Delaware.
While these beers are all very well-crafted, the highlight for me had to be the “Hot Wax” Imperial Hazy IPA.
Hot Wax
Dewey Brewing Company – Dewey Beach, Delaware
Hazy Double IPA – Dogfish Head is, without a doubt, the most popular, well-known brewery in the state of Delaware; however according to Untapped, Dewey Brewing Company reigns supreme as the #1 rated brewery in state and after trying this beer, I might have to agree! Pouring hazy gold and weighing in at 8.5%, this tropical fruit bomb of a beer is loaded with Galaxy and Vic Secret Hops (both Australian varieties) imparting tons of pineapple, peach, orange peel, and passionfruit aroma and flavor. The carbonation is medium and the mouthfeel is silky-smooth with a slightly resinous finish. This was incredibly easy to drink despite the high ABV and probably the best interpretation of the style I’ve had to date.
Unless you live in the Mid-Atlantic region, the only way to try this beer (and other regionally-renown brews) is to sign up for Tavour. The icing on the cake is that you’ll be supporting 100% independent breweries in the process! I’ll drink to that!
